So it sounded like some guy was trying to get his dog to do some tricks in front of where I live. Nothing too out of the ordinary, right? Only it was like 2am. This goes on for a little while till I get annoyed at the fact that it seems this person has no consideration for people who might be sleeping. Granted, I wasnt sleeping, but still. So I stop what Im doing and step outside to give this guy a piece of my mind. I open my door to first be blinded by a flashlight, then to face down an angry german shepherd, a badge, and the business end of 2 USP .40s. I hear something behind me so I turn my head to see the biggest raccoon Ive ever seen cornered and growling.

lease go back in your home and stay there, sir! So, youd think I be a little scared at the sudden and unexpected encounter with a big dog and 2 pistols right in my face in the middle of the night, but instead, all I could feel was annoyance. All I could say was
Sure. I went back inside and locked my door. I was kinda hoping at that point that theyd shoot the raccoon or let Kujo eat it since it keeps messing up my little BBQ, but I just sigh and let it go. I wait a while for the noise to stop outside and finally step out to find out what all the raucous was really about. Turns out, there was a guy who robbed something or another who they were looking for in the area and they thought he might be in my backyard. Now, in retrospect, Im glad Alameda police officers are as well trained as they are. Im sure I surprised them a little by opening my door and stepping out, they whipped those .40s around pretty quick. That could have been a crappy end to an otherwise uneventful day.
